Theodore Popelensky

Theodore (Fedor Yurievich) Popelensky is an Associate Professor of the Department of Differential Geometry and Applications at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the department's scientific secretary, and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Senior Research Fellow of the Laboratory of Mirror Symmetry and Automorphic Forms at HSE University (since 2022). Doctor of Sciences in physics and mathematics (2026).

He graduated with honours from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University in 1995 and completed his graduate studies there. His Candidate of Sciences (PhD) thesis was "Modern applications of operad methods in algebraic topology" (1999); his Doctor of Sciences thesis, "Hopf algebras and their cohomology in problems of algebraic topology and homological algebra" (2026, Steklov Mathematical Institute). He has worked in the Department of Differential Geometry and Applications since 1998, as an Associate Professor since 2005.

He is the author of more than 60 scientific works, including 11 books, and has supervised three dissertations.

He teaches differential geometry, tensor analysis and the mathematical foundations of modern physics; at the Independent University of Moscow he teaches "Geometry" in autumn 2026.
