Artem Avilov

Artem Alekseevich Avilov is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics of HSE University and a Research Fellow of its Laboratory of Algebraic Geometry and its Applications (since 2017). He has worked at HSE since 2012.

He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Lomonosov Moscow State University (2012) and received his Candidate of Sciences degree (PhD) in 2016 with the thesis "Automorphisms of algebraic varieties and minimal models".

At HSE he teaches algebraic geometry — in 2026/27, "Algebraic Surfaces" and "Introduction to Scheme Theory"; at the Independent University of Moscow he teaches "Algebra 1" in autumn 2026.
